A Hungarian institute for logistics and production develops cellular metal foam components for building application. Advantage:measurement and weight of metal structure can be reduced with metal foam filling up in such a way that it can keep the original static characteristic. Technology is good for building material industry and construction industrial companies.Institute is looking for industrial and service partner to test the method on new application field and establish experiment factory.
The Hungarian institute deals with material development,
R+D services ( logistics, production engineering, environmental management, mechatronics, energetics
etc.) and software-centre services( numerical modelling). They have got material tester laboratory
also.
Foams can be produced from metal till it is liquid. Metal foams consist of metal and gas
bubbles. Metal foams belong to the cell materials family, their cubic capacity is minimum 70% gas.
Metal foams can be produced in two different ways:
â?¢ Like beer froth: at the bottom of the liquid
they make bubbles with gas injection which after that rise up;
â?¢ Like the raising of bread: when
gas is originated inside of the material, but here other gas blowing agents are used instead of
yeast.
Metal foams are made from aluminium, but there are zinc-, gold-, iron- and copper foams.
The
offered technology make closed structured metal foam, which are opened later, thatâ??s why it kills
the sound.
Three-course structure ( solid-cell-solid) calls sandwich structure. With the offered
technology this structure is sawable and workable with milling tool ( in case of small cell
measurement); wood-screw can be curved also.

New feature of the offered technology:
Metal
foams are produced like beer froth. Only big cell ( bigger than 3 mm) metal foam can be produced,
which can be cut only with diamond disk.
But at this technology during the gas injection they use
vibrations. In this way they can produce small cell ( smaller than 3 mm) metal foams which can be
cut may with wood-saw.

sandwichpanels are good for building companies also, e.g.building of roof- and floor-timbers,
streetfurnitures and recording studio.
