A UK SME has developed a ground-breaking portable multi-biometric system that has been designed to be used ‘on the go’ and ‘in the field’. It is a handheld rugged computer with built-in face, finger and iris biometrics, integrating a light-immune face recognition technology and operating accurately and robustly in any lighting conditions from pitch darkness to sunlight and everything in between. The SME is seeking partners for research collaboration, licensing or customisation to specific needs.
Identity management has become a key issue in both
national and international security. Governments and organisations are increasingly relying on
biometrically enabled solutions for critical infrastructure protection, to combat identity theft and
fraud. This SME from the South East of England specialises in solutions for positive identity
checking in law enforcement, immigration and electronic documentation.
The product uses a rugged
aluminium package that fits in a pocket and can collect and process facial, fingerprint and iris
biometrics and other relevant
in-the-field information. It incorporates world leading face
recognition technology, that brings uniquely fast and accurate performance in a wide range of face
activated biometric applications.
It can be used both for enrolment and verification applications,
where the identity of subjects needs to be checked and verified regularly. It captures the facial
image, fingerprints and the iris pattern of a subject and stores this information in its memory. The
system extracts the features from
the images taken and compares these against images already stored.
The verification is completed in a matter of seconds.
Using sophisticated and advanced image and
video analysis techniques, facial recognition can be used with enhanced object recognition and
tracking applications to offer unrivalled performance and security. The product has built-in optical
finger sensor, iris camera and IR illuminator.
